{"id":8412,"date":"2025-11-03T18:42:08","date_gmt":"2025-11-03T18:42:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyechoes.ng\/?p=8412"},"modified":"2025-11-03T18:42:08","modified_gmt":"2025-11-03T18:42:08","slug":"league-of-yoruba-youths-preaches-unity-rallies-support-for-tinubus-economic-reforms","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyechoes.ng\/index.php\/2025\/11\/03\/league-of-yoruba-youths-preaches-unity-rallies-support-for-tinubus-economic-reforms\/","title":{"rendered":"League of Yoruba Youths preaches unity, rallies support for Tinubu&#8217;s economic reforms"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By Abdul-Ganiyy Akanbi <\/p>\n<p>The League of Yoruba Youth for Advocacy and Good Governance has reaffirmed its support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, commending his administration\u2019s economic reforms and policies aimed at strengthening governance and youth empowerment.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the League\u2019s annual summit in Abuja with the theme: \u201cEvaluation of the Renewed Hope Agenda: A Strategic Way of Converting Challenges to Good,\u201d the President-General of the group, Ambassador Adediwura Adesina said the forum was designed to review pthe impact of government reforms and assess the president\u2019s performance since assuming office in May 2023.<\/p>\n<p>Adesina praised the president\u2019s courage in removing fuel subsidy on his first day in office, describing it as a painful but necessary step to save the economy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPresident Tinubu was bold enough to remove the fuel subsidy on his first day in office \u2014 a courageous step to secure Nigeria\u2019s economic future. Though it came with hardship, it was a necessary decision to prevent further deterioration,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that the removal of fuel subsidy had significantly increased allocations to states and local governments, calling on Nigerians to hold governors accountable for the transparent use of the funds.<\/p>\n<p> \u201cFrom January to June 2025 alone, state and local government allocations have tripled compared to previous years. It\u2019s time citizens ask their governors where the funds are going,\u201d he stressed.<\/p>\n<p>Adesina also hailed the granting of local government autonomy through the Supreme Court ruling as a landmark achievement of the Tinubu administration, describing it as a \u201cmajor milestone for grassroots development.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He further highlighted the creation of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, NELFUND as a life-changing policy that ensures no student is denied education due to financial hardship.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;No student in Nigeria should drop out again because of financial difficulty,\u201d he emphasized.<\/p>\n<p>Reiterating the group\u2019s commitment to national unity, Adesina said ethnicity should not divide Nigerians.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe don\u2019t believe anyone is Igbo, Hausa, or Yoruba \u2014 these are just tribal names. We are all Nigerians. Only unity can move this country forward,\u201d he declared.<\/p>\n<p>The youth leader advised President Tinubu to remain focused on his economic and governance agenda despite political distractions.<\/p>\n<p> \u201cOur message to President Tinubu is simple \u2014 do not be distracted. Stay the course. You are on the right track,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The League hinted that it would consider endorsing President Tinubu for re-election in 2027 after a performance review of his administration.<\/p>\n<p> \u201cIf the Renewed Hope scorecard exceeds 70 percent, we will officially declare our support,\u201d Adesina concluded.<\/p>\n<p>In his goodwill message, Chief Olayinka Oladiran, a member of the League\u2019s Board of Trustees, urged Nigerian leaders to consolidate the gains of the ongoing reforms through inclusive governance.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The President has laid the foundation for economic recovery. What is needed now is accountability and continuity in public service,\u201d he remarked.<\/p>\n<p>Also speaking, Princess Yetunde Akinlabi, a youth development advocate, called on young Nigerians to take ownership of the Renewed Hope Agenda by engaging actively in nation-building.<\/p>\n<p> \u201cThis government has created opportunities in technology, agriculture, and education. The question is \u2014 are we ready to take advantage of them?\u201d she asked.<\/p>\n<p>Traditional leaders from the South West, including Oba Abdulraheem Adetunji, lauded the League for promoting peace and national unity.
