{"id":8881,"date":"2025-11-22T03:58:47","date_gmt":"2025-11-22T03:58:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyechoes.ng\/?p=8881"},"modified":"2025-11-22T03:58:47","modified_gmt":"2025-11-22T03:58:47","slug":"kanus-imprisonmentconcern-nigerians-express-optimism-over-his-release-through-presidential-prerogative-of-mercy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyechoes.ng\/index.php\/2025\/11\/22\/kanus-imprisonmentconcern-nigerians-express-optimism-over-his-release-through-presidential-prerogative-of-mercy\/","title":{"rendered":"Kanu&#8217;s imprisonment:Concern Nigerians express optimism over his release through Presidential prerogative of mercy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By Our Correspondent <\/p>\n<p>Disturbed by the recent live imprisonment slamed on the leader of the Indigenous people of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi  Nnamdi Kanu last thursday by a Federal High Court in Abuja, supporters and sympathizers  of Kanu  have  expressed optimism that following the appeal by prominent groups and well meaning individuals across the country, the president and commander in chief of the Armed Forces of the  Federal  Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, would graciously grant amnesty to the Biafra agitator <\/p>\n<p>Fielding questions from  journalists in Owerri Imo State capital, Friday  in reaction to the judgement handed down  on the prolonged trial of the leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu by the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja and presided over by Justice James Omotosho Omotosho, the concerned people believed that president  Bola Ahmed Tinubu would be magnanimous enough to listen to the clarion calls by Nigerians from all sectors of the country to tamper justice with mercy and grant Kanu freedom <\/p>\n<p>The group further believed that Kanu&#8217;s case would be settled through a political dialogue, urging Nigerians particularly, Ndigbo, to remain calm and continue to pray to God for his intervention <\/p>\n<p>This opinion however, added to the opinion expressed by the Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives Rt Hon Benjamin Kalu who noted that political solution is under way for the release of Kanu <\/p>\n<p>The Honourable member, assured, &#8221; a political solution is being actively pursued to secure the release of Kanu&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>In a statement shortly after the judgement, thursday, Nov 2025, the Deputy Speaker expressed optimism that the President would oblige the clarion calls and appeals from Igbo leaders, sympathizers and other stake holders to this effect <\/p>\n<p>According to him, &#8221; it is now time  to explore political solution to actualise the release of Kanu&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>Also reacting to the judgement, a political Analyst, Dr  Chikwado Enebili Ndukwe urged the Igbos not to lose hope pointing out, &#8221; there are still some space by which Nnamdi Kanu could be set free&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>He noted  that the whole cenario shows some political undertone and therefore requires political solution <\/p>\n<p>According  to him, &#8221;
