{"id":9032,"date":"2025-11-28T03:57:43","date_gmt":"2025-11-28T03:57:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyechoes.ng\/?p=9032"},"modified":"2025-11-28T03:57:43","modified_gmt":"2025-11-28T03:57:43","slug":"senate-okays-amendment-to-establishment-of-nigerian-army-university","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyechoes.ng\/index.php\/2025\/11\/28\/senate-okays-amendment-to-establishment-of-nigerian-army-university\/","title":{"rendered":"Senate Okays Amendment to establishment of Nigerian Army University"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By Our Correspondent <\/p>\n<p>The  Senate on Thursday passed a bill to amend the Nigerian Army University, Biu, passed for second reading. <\/p>\n<p>The sponsor of the bill, Senator Ali Ndume (Borno South), clarified areas of the amendment to the Act. <\/p>\n<p>Ndume explained that if the amendment scaled through final passage, the President, Commander-in-Chief would replace the Chief of Army Staff as Visitor to the University, as contained in the original Act. <\/p>\n<p>Also, the amendment seeks to divest the Nigerian Army of the power to appoint the chairman of the university&#8217;s governing board. <\/p>\n<p>Senator Ndume said the second amendment became necessary beacause President Bola Tinubu had already appointed a chairman for the university&#8217;s governing board. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;So the amendment is necessary to make the necessary adjustments to reflect original Act in view of recent developments,&#8221; Ndume told journalists shortly after plenary.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Our Correspondent The Senate on Thursday passed a bill to amend the Nigerian Army University, Biu, passed for second reading.
