Osun ALGON Responds To Falsehood And Mischief over NULGE Planned Resumption

By David Owei.

Osun State Chapter of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) has described the recent outburst by the self-acclaimed APC ALGON Chairman – one Mr. Samuel Idowu Abiodun as a manifestation of fear, desperation and panic following the patriotic and lawful directive issued by the Osun State President of the Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Comrade Nathaniel Ogungbangbe, instructing local government workers across the state to resume back to duty.

We consider the statement issued by Mr. Abiodun Idowu and his cohorts as laughable, illogical and an unfortunate theatre of lies meant to intimidate legitimate workers and mislead unsuspecting members of the public.

Local government workers are the legitimate landlords in their respective councils while the impostor chairmen are merely illegal tenants. No tenant has the right to deny lawful property owners access to their workplace or to disrupt statutory administrative functions. The return of workers to duty is lawful, constitutional and in the best interest of grassroots governance.

It is therefore baseless and deceptive for the so-called Idowu Abiodun to cite the February 10th court matter as an excuse to continue their reign of illegality. The pending matter is strictly between duly elected PDP Chairmen and Councillors and the illegal APC placeholders. It has absolutely nothing to do with civil servants who have constitutional duties to discharge.

For the avoidance of doubt, the tenure of the APC “Yes/No” impostor Chairmen and Councillors clearly elapsed on October 22nd, as expressly referenced even by their own lawyers during the Supreme Court proceedings. Their continued occupation of local government secretariats therefore amounts to deliberate violation of the rule of law.

In addition, the Court of Appeal judgment of June 13, 2025 remains valid, subsisting and enforceable. Their continued parading as political office holders is a brazen act of contempt of court capable of attracting legal sanction. We therefore call on all security agencies in Osun State to act within the law by preventing the illegal APC impostors from disrupting the lawful resumption of government workers. Should there be any breakdown of law and order anywhere in the state, Mr. Abiodun Idowu and his co-travellers should be held directly responsible.

Osun people are peaceful, law-abiding and politically conscious. They will not fold their arms and allow enemies of democracy to plunge the state into avoidable chaos.

On behalf of the genuine ALGON leadership in Osun State, I warmly welcome our hardworking local government workers back to their constitutional duties. Your commitment to service is commendable and your courage is patriotic.

Osun must continue to move forward.

By David Owei.
