{"id":9842,"date":"2025-12-31T04:05:30","date_gmt":"2025-12-31T04:05:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyechoes.ng\/?p=9842"},"modified":"2025-12-31T04:05:30","modified_gmt":"2025-12-31T04:05:30","slug":"gni-fire-outbreak-lagos-govt-orders-residents-to-vacate-danger-zone","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyechoes.ng\/index.php\/2025\/12\/31\/gni-fire-outbreak-lagos-govt-orders-residents-to-vacate-danger-zone\/","title":{"rendered":"GNI fire Outbreak: Lagos Govt orders residents to vacate danger zone"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By Our Correspondent <\/p>\n<p>In an effort to safe Residents from further loss of lives and property,Lagos State government has ordered them  especially those living close to 25-storey Great Nigeria Insurance building that was gutted by fire.<\/p>\n<p>The State Commissioner for Information &#038; Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso made the disclosure in a statement made available to newsmen on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>The 25-storey building got burnt on December 24.<\/p>\n<p>The statement reads, &#8220;The Lagos State Government is set to enforce Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu\u2019s directive that residents and businesses around the burnt Great Nigeria Insurance (GNI) building should leave immediately. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Government sent in experts who evaluated the site of the fire and warned strongly against the inherent danger to lives and property of residents and businesses within 100 meters radius of the site. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Several buildings around the scene of fire are compromised and must be evacuated, according to experts.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Shop owners are breaking into the no movement barrier zone created at the perimeter of the scene of fire.
