No reconciliation process going on in Rivers-Okocha- APC …Says Fubara not eager to rift

By Our Reporter
All Progressives Congress (APC) has alleged that there are indications that the rift between the suspended Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike will continue accusing of tactically dodging reconciliation overtures made towards him since State of Emergency was imposed on Rivers State by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on March 18, 2025.

The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, Sir Tony Okocha alleged that claims of reconciliation from the camp of the suspended state governor were false as no effort has been made by Fubara to approach either the suspended members of the state House of Assembly, stakeholders and elders of the community or the leadership of the APC in the state to douse tension.
He told newsmen at the Media Centre of the APC National Secretariat onTuesday in Abuja that even if Fubara joins the APC, he would not be forgiven of his sins except the suspended governor makes genuine efforts to initiate reconciliation with those who were allegedly offended by his actions as governor.
Asked whether the governor has made any effort to join the APC, Okocha accused Fubara and his former commissioners of grandstanding and living on the false hope that the state of emergency will soon be lifted adding that in politics, no one joins a party from the backdoor.
Tony Okocha’s words: “Fubara’s suspension and the declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State has no business whatsoever with politics.
It was about his misdemeanour and I told you once that he said that the president saved his job by declaring the state of emergency.
Don’t forget that the Supreme Court in its judgement said earlier that there was no government in Rivers State. So, if there was no government in Rivers State, something must be done and that which happened was the declaration of the state of emergency.
“If Fubara decides to join the APC, it has nothing to do with the state of emergency in Rivers state. His sins cannot be forgiven just because he joins our party. It is not true. He has not spoken to me.
He will enter the party through the door not the window. Not only him, there are procedures for defection to another party and if he claims to be a politician, he will know that all politics is local, he will try and defect in his ward. From there it will come to us and I have asked my ward chairmen, nobody brought any information about him entering APC.
“It is not possible that you will jump into APC today and your sins will be forgiven, that can’t be true. It won’t work that way. Then, it would have made APC as a dumping ground for people who commit misdemeanor and believe that by and large we will come for reconciliation.”
On whether the party is worried about Fubara meeting the president, Okocha said: “How can we be worried that somebody visited the president. Don’t forget it is also the season for Sallah. Yesterday, I read somewhere, the former Governor Segun Osoba paid Sallah homage and I don’t know whether you saw the President in the company of Chief EN Wike… So, we can’t be worried, we can’t gag the President to say you will see Mr. A, you will not see Mr. B. Perhaps, if I had made an application to see Mr. President, I would have been there with my team.
“I am not a prophet of doom, I can only say to you with the benefit of knowledge that I am not aware of any reconciliation move. No reconciliation is going on. Is reconciliation going to talk to Mr President? But Mr President has said go and make peace, yet no attempt at that. I am not aware of any reconciliation moves by Fubara and his team,”Okicha concluded.

Governor Adeleke is not Joining ADC Nor Aligning with Anyone in ADC- Spokesperson

By David Owei, Bayelsa
Governor Ademola Adeleke is not defecting to African Democratic Congress (ADC) nor aligning with anybody within the ADC ahead of the 2026 state elections, his Spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed has disclosed.
Responding to media publication and enquiries, the Spokesperson affirmed that Governor Adeleke remains in Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and is going to win, with wide margins, the 2026 governorship elections on the platform of the PDP.
The statement reads further: “Our attention has been drawn to news reports and media enquiries about the imminent defection of Governor Adeleke to the ADC or alignment with ADC big wigs ahead of the 2026 governorship race. There is no truth in those publications and speculations.
“First of all, we, the PDP Osun, have already adopted and endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the 2027 presidential election, so there is no alliance with ADC.
“Secondly, Governor Adeleke has no alliance with anyone in ADC. He remains in PDP, will run in PDP, and needs no alliance with ADC to win with a wide margin in 2026.
“The Osun electorate supports Governor Adeleke because of his impressive performance since he came to office. That good work is still ongoing and Osun people are committed to sustaining the delivery of good governance by re-electing Governor Adeleke in 2026”, the Spokesperson was quoted as saying.
Governor Adeleke urges PDP members to forge ahead with the ongoing strengthening of the party structures across all levels to prepare for fresh victory next year”, the statement from the Spokesperson concluded.

By David Owei,Bayelsa
The umbrella body of Ijaw Elders, the Ijaw National Congress (INC) has rejected the Bill in the Senate seeking to permanently elevate the Ooni of Ife and Sultan of Sokoto as the exclusive Co-chairmen of the Traditional Rulers Council.
The INC said the move would be at the expense of apex traditional rulers from other ethnic nationalities and geopolitical divides.
The Second Vice Chairman of the Ijaw National Congress (INC), Chief Alabo Nengi James (OON) said, in a statement on Sunday in Odi, Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government area of Bayelsa State, the proposal is a continuos infringement on Traditional Rulers in Nigeria.
Alabo Nengi James describes the provision of the Bill as unacceptable and against the Rights of the indigenous People across tribes, Religion, Culture and Customs.
He said the Bill should be reviewed to include clauses such as No permanent Chairmanship for Sultan and Oni only must be allowed in the ongoing bill being discussed in the Senate.
He advocates that the National Assembly should allow the National Council of Traditional Rulers to Appoint their Leadership themselves, rotationaly and based on Federal Character.
“Include the Role of Traditional Rulers into the Constitutio and No Traditional Ruler from another tribe or religion is superior to another.”
“The National Assembly should Step down the Provocative and dehumanizing offensive Bill that will cause a serious rift and breach of peace in Nigeria.”
Chief James called the attention of the Senate President, Rt. Hon. Godswill Akpabio, urging him to immediately step down what he termed a “highly insensitive and dangerous bill.”
He emphasized that traditional rulers across the country must be given equal recognition and should be allowed to choose their national leadership through internal mechanisms that reflect rotational leadership and the federal character system.
