MOSIEND condemns Wike’s attacks on Ijaw nation, Emergency Rule in Rivers State

By David Owei, Baylesa
The Central Zonal Chairman of the Movement for the Survival of Ijaw Ethnic Nationalities in the Niger Delta, Comrade Patrick Zidougha has broke his silence and declared that the Ijaws anger against the unwarranted inflammatory attacks by Nyesom Wike is justifiable.
Comrade Patrick Zidougha made the declaration while fielding questions from newsmen in his office in Yenagoa over President Tinubu’s proclamation of emergency rule in Rivers State.
He said Nyesom Wike has never been loyal to a course but only interested in what he will grab adding that the former Rivers State Governor now FCT Minister is the cause of the full blown crisis in the oil rich state in the Niger Delta.
Comrade Zidougha said it is very demeaning and unbecoming of Wike to call Ijaws as minority of the minorities in the Niger Delta and cannot produce governor in Delta, Edo, Rivers, Akwa Ibom but only in Bayelsa State which is an Ijaw homogeneous state.
The Niger Delta activist challenged Wike to tell Nigerians his political ideology and where he belongs in the present political dispensation and condemned him for playing the role of destroyer rather than being an agent to build and leave indelible footprints on the sands of time.
He reminded Wike if his memory has failed him to search the archives to realize the frontal role the Ijaws played to create Rivers State which brought to fore His Royal Majesty Alfred Pappapreye Diete Spiff as first military Administrator of Rivers State, followed by Chief Melford Okilo as first Civilian Governor, Chief Ada George who were all Ijaws that ruled old Rivers State. He said Ijaws were appointed as Military Administrators of other states in Nigeria during the Military era which is a pointer to the formidable nature of the Ijaws.
He described Wike as someone who allows his current position to becloud his judgement and denigrate people who contributed to his meteoric rise in politics and warned him not to dare the Ijaws.
When asked on the imposition of emergency rule in Rivers State by President Bola Tinubu, the fire spitting MOSIEND Central Zone Chairman said it is a well rehearsed plot to provoke the Ijaws as there is no provision in the 1979 constitution as amended for the president to suspend an elected governor and state lawmakers.
He advised the Ijaws to react to the situation with caution as there is a grand plot to pick up Ijaw leaders on trump up charges
Comrade Zidougha disclosed that the emergency rule imposed on Rivers State is nothing but an oppression on the Ijaws and a way of testing the waters to probably extend it to Bayelsa State just to silence the opposition controlled states for 2027.
He advised angry Ijaw youths not to get involved in angry protest.
Comrade Zidougha expressed displeasure over President Bola Tinubu absolving Nyesom Wike of the ignominious role he has played in fueling the crisis due to his greed to take charge of the state resources and wondered why Mr.President is only blaming Governor Fubara which he said is an unstatement conduct
.
He described the Supreme Court judgement on the Rivers State imbroglio particularly nullifying the local government election as very unfortunate and the directive to Central Bank to withheld the statutory allocation of the state as a deliberate action to destabilize the state.
He enjoined Mr. President to lift the emergency rule and restore the democratic structures in Rivers State.
He enjoined the Ijaws to be united and continue the liberation struggle to set the Ijaws free from internal and external aggressors bent on destroying the Ijaw nation.
On the raging issue of core and none core Ijaw, he advised those who first regard the language they speak as their tribe to realize that they are first and foremost Ijaw by tribe and the language spoken is a dialect in Ijaw and should be proud of being an Ijaw.

Governor Adeleke is not Joining ADC Nor Aligning with Anyone in ADC- Spokesperson

By David Owei, Bayelsa
Governor Ademola Adeleke is not defecting to African Democratic Congress (ADC) nor aligning with anybody within the ADC ahead of the 2026 state elections, his Spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed has disclosed.
Responding to media publication and enquiries, the Spokesperson affirmed that Governor Adeleke remains in Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and is going to win, with wide margins, the 2026 governorship elections on the platform of the PDP.
The statement reads further: “Our attention has been drawn to news reports and media enquiries about the imminent defection of Governor Adeleke to the ADC or alignment with ADC big wigs ahead of the 2026 governorship race. There is no truth in those publications and speculations.
“First of all, we, the PDP Osun, have already adopted and endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the 2027 presidential election, so there is no alliance with ADC.
“Secondly, Governor Adeleke has no alliance with anyone in ADC. He remains in PDP, will run in PDP, and needs no alliance with ADC to win with a wide margin in 2026.
“The Osun electorate supports Governor Adeleke because of his impressive performance since he came to office. That good work is still ongoing and Osun people are committed to sustaining the delivery of good governance by re-electing Governor Adeleke in 2026”, the Spokesperson was quoted as saying.
Governor Adeleke urges PDP members to forge ahead with the ongoing strengthening of the party structures across all levels to prepare for fresh victory next year”, the statement from the Spokesperson concluded.

INC rejects bill granting exclusive co-chairmanship to Ooni, Sultan

By David Owei,Bayelsa
The umbrella body of Ijaw Elders, the Ijaw National Congress (INC) has rejected the Bill in the Senate seeking to permanently elevate the Ooni of Ife and Sultan of Sokoto as the exclusive Co-chairmen of the Traditional Rulers Council.
The INC said the move would be at the expense of apex traditional rulers from other ethnic nationalities and geopolitical divides.
The Second Vice Chairman of the Ijaw National Congress (INC), Chief Alabo Nengi James (OON) said, in a statement on Sunday in Odi, Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government area of Bayelsa State, the proposal is a continuos infringement on Traditional Rulers in Nigeria.
Alabo Nengi James describes the provision of the Bill as unacceptable and against the Rights of the indigenous People across tribes, Religion, Culture and Customs.
He said the Bill should be reviewed to include clauses such as No permanent Chairmanship for Sultan and Oni only must be allowed in the ongoing bill being discussed in the Senate.
He advocates that the National Assembly should allow the National Council of Traditional Rulers to Appoint their Leadership themselves, rotationaly and based on Federal Character.
“Include the Role of Traditional Rulers into the Constitutio and No Traditional Ruler from another tribe or religion is superior to another.”
“The National Assembly should Step down the Provocative and dehumanizing offensive Bill that will cause a serious rift and breach of peace in Nigeria.”
Chief James called the attention of the Senate President, Rt. Hon. Godswill Akpabio, urging him to immediately step down what he termed a “highly insensitive and dangerous bill.”
He emphasized that traditional rulers across the country must be given equal recognition and should be allowed to choose their national leadership through internal mechanisms that reflect rotational leadership and the federal character system.
