The spiritual leader of Light of God Synagogue Church, Echezema Ibagwa-aka in Igbo-Eze  South local government area of Enugu State , Prophet Chinedu Ezedike Solomon accused of killing four children of the same parents, who incidentally were members of his church has cried out that he is innocent.
Prophet Ezedike Chinedu Solomon whose story has gone viral that he allegedly killed the children of his church members, has denied any knowledge of the murder and called for unbiased proper investigation into what transpired on the fateful day, May 16, 2025 in the Property of Late Raphael Ezema near his church premises.
Prophet Ezedike, who spoke to our reporter at the premises of Enugu North Magistrate Court, Enugu before he was sent back to prison custody, explained that he was not around the very day the incident occurred but went to a customary court with my Lawyer and a friend.
Vehemently denying that he was not a killer or a ritualist but a Man of God who uses  prayers to deliver people from the spiritual and physical problems, said that he was set up and appealed to Gov. Peter Mbah of Enugu State, Fr. Ejike Mbaka of the Adoration Ministry, social critic, Very Dark Man and   Brother Chigbo whom he described as a good man of God to intervene to see that Justice is done and the real culprit be found.
He expressed a deep lamentations over the heartless destruction of the Property  he had been blessed with since 30 years he had been serving God . But insisted  that his worry was not all his property that were destroyed but that his concern is to know what happened to the children who were like his own children.
According to him, he started his spiritual work at the age of ten and for over thirty (30) years, God has been using him and wondered how all of a sudden he became a killer and a ritualist.
To cut the story of his ordeal short, he said that before he was moved from Ibagwa to Area Command at Nsukka and later to Enugu Police Headquarters, his place was thoroughly searched but the only thing found in his house was a candle and a bottle of Olive Oil, pointing out that nothing indicting or incriminating was found on him, hence his appeal that a proper investigation be carried out to get to the truth of the saga.
“What I am begging Nigerians is to help me so that the truth of what actually transpired will come to light because I know I am being manipulated and Set Up for Murder.  the killer or killers of the innocent children must be unveiled if God has called me. The death of the children was a trap to set me up to damage my reputation and the reputation of the church.
“I am pleading with Gov. Mbah to look into the case.  I am also begging Fr. Mbaka to intervene because this is the image of the church that is being damaged.  Anyone that is not affected today could be affected tomorrow.
“I am also pleading with the Very Dark Man and Bro. Chigbo to intervene, he is a real man of God. Let the truth come to light.  I am not a politician and if someone is not into politics, he should not be killed.  What I do is prayer.  Police have done investigation and they know that I did not do anything,” he appealed while pleading his innocence.
Explaining how he came in contact with Mr. Chinonso Ezema whose children were killed, he said that they had problem of their male children not living beyond one month after birth before they died.  He said that it was prayers and three days of dry fasting that made them to have two male children that survived. . He said that they had been with him for eight years since he delivered them from their family problem.
He said that because of the miracle God wrought, their parents named their first son after his name, Chinedu so that they will constantly remember the man that helped them when they were in distress.
The Prophet further explained how he also met the person whom the parents are accusing of killing their children, Chukwuma Eze from Ede Obala in Nsukka local government. According to him, Chukwuma ‘s mother had a kidney problem and her stomach protruded and that she was taken to many big hospitals to no avail but with holy water and Olive Oil and prayers,  within three months the woman regained herself and that was how Chukwuma and his family started coming to his church.
He equally disclosed that at a stage, the Ezemas started coming to be sleeping in his church because robbers were terrorizing them and that it was like that the family of Chukwuma Eze and Chinonso Ezema came to know each other, adding that as time went on, Chinonso and Chukwuma started having issues of space to sleep in the Church and were often quarrelling thereby making the Ezema family to suspect that it was Chukwuma that killed their four children.
Asked if he believed that it was Chukwuma who disappeared since that day  the children were killed that killed the children, Prophet Solomon said he would not know and can not swear that it was he but said that no one could know what is in the heart of man but only God .
He rather linked his set up and his ordeal to his soiled relationship with the traditional ruler of Amebo, Ibagwa, Igwe Hyacinth Eze whom he had issue of land with.
He said that he bought many plots of land from Igwe ‘s family members and that the matter has  gone to court and that since then they had become enemies, hence he accused Igwe Eze of being capable of colluding with the Chairman of Igbo-Eze South local government area, Barr. Ugo Ferdinand Ugwueze, who demolished his property when the incident came up claiming that it was Gov. Mbah that ordered the demolition of his property.
He accused the chairman of collusion with Igwe because it was the chairman who allegedly blocked attempts made to find Chukwuma who is being accused by the children’s parents of killing them.
He pointedly accused the chairman of blocking even the family of Chukwuma Eze from coming to see him in Police Station at Ibagwa Aka among other things.
Asked to comment on the development in his community, Igwe Hyacinth Eze said he was traveling and could not talk about the incident.  I am going to the airport.  I am traveling and I don’t know when I am coming back,” he said.
On his part, the local government chairman, Ugwueze, said that he is not surprised that Prophet Solomon is claiming innocence or not guilty.
“I am a lawyer, even if I am his lawyer, I’ll tell him to plead innocent.  Many have been lodging complaints on him.  The complaints are too many.  People have been coming to complain.  I didn’t know him but people have been coming with complaints of fraud and all what not.
“Why are you coming now?  I have spoken to many newsmen and the story is everywhere.  Anyway, if you want to see me, you can come to my office,” the chairman said on phone.

Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, KSA, has unveiled comprehensive health requirements and guidelines for all intending pilgrims across the world planning to perform the 2026 (1447 AH) Hajj in the holy land.

A circular by the authorities of the KSA and made available to journalists by the Deputy Director of Information and Public Relations in the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, NAHCON, Fatima Sanda Usara, outlines both mandatory and recommended medical conditions that must be met prior to undertaking the pilgrimage.

According to the circular, all countries, including Nigeria, are to ensure that their citizens performing Hajj are physically fit and free from ailments that could affect their health or that of others during the pilgrimage.

The Saudi Ministry of Health listed severe heart, lung, or kidney diseases, advanced chronic illnesses, and mental or psychological disorders as conditions that may prevent an individual from performing Hajj.

It mandates full compliance with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Health medical fitness requirements for attending Hajj, including a certificate from medical authorities of the pilgrims’ countries confirming that they are free of conditions like major organ failure (heart, lungs, liver, or kidneys); neurological or psychiatric disorders that impair cognition or are accompanied by severe motor disabilities; senility accompanied by dementia; high-risk pregnancy at any stage; cancer patients receiving chemotherapy, biological, or radiological treatment; and active infectious diseases with a public health impact such as tuberculosis and hemorrhagic fever.

On vaccination, the Saudi health authorities reiterated that all intending pilgrims must present valid certificates of vaccination against COVID-19, meningitis, polio, and yellow fever before entering the Kingdom.

To ensure effectiveness of the guidelines, Saudi authorities will conduct health screenings at all entry points to ensure compliance with the set requirements while any traveler who fails to meet these health standards may be denied entry, isolated, or subjected to further medical evaluation.

The Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah emphasized that “no pilgrim suffering from the listed diseases will be allowed to travel, and health certificates will be thoroughly verified before and upon arrival in the Kingdom.”

It also disclosed that additional measures may be taken if there are global disease outbreaks or international public health emergencies during or prior to the Hajj exercise, in coordination with the World Health Organization, WHO.

The NAHCON, has therefore, urged all intending pilgrims to take note of these requirements and ensure they complete the necessary vaccinations and health checks well ahead of the 2026 Hajj season.

The commission restated its commitment to work with the State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Boards and Licensed Tour Operators to enforce compliance as provided to avoid travel disruptions at the point of entry into the Kingdom for Hajj.

HURIWA Blasts Onanuga as Tribal Bigot, Declares Support for Sowore’s Protest*

IPOB leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu
By George Mgbeleke
The Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) has slammed President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, describing him as a “tribal bigot” whose utterances are not only divisive but dangerous to Nigeria’s fragile unity.
The Association said Onanuga’s recent statement that detained IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, “will get what he deserves” is a clear reflection of the dysfunction and double standards that have long defined Nigeria’s justice system, where individuals from certain ethnic backgrounds are persecuted for dissent while others are rewarded for incitement.
In a statement made available to journalists on Friday, HURIWA said Onanuga, who openly threatened the Igbo people during the 2023 general elections, ought to be in the DSS underground cell instead of occupying a powerful seat in Aso Rock.
“Bayo Onanuga is the one who deserves to be in DSS custody, not Nnamdi Kanu,” HURIWA declared. “In 2023, he incited ethnic hatred when he warned Igbos to stay out of Lagos politics. He said, ‘Let 2023 be the last time of Igbo interference in Lagos politics.’ That was hate speech at its worst; a direct assault on the Igbo nationality. Yet, he roams free and enjoys presidential privileges.”
The rights group said Onanuga’s comments are not just an attack on Kanu but an affront to the entire Igbo-speaking population of Nigeria, adding that Kanu’s agitation represents the cry of a people who have long suffered systemic marginalization and exclusion.
“Nnamdi Kanu’s message, though sometimes delivered in strong language, was rooted in the call for equity and justice for the Igbo race. Anyone who denies that the Igbo people are systematically marginalized in modern-day Nigeria is either dishonest or an outcast among his people,” the association said.
HURIWA noted that Onanuga’s renewed attack on rights activist Omoyele Sowore and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar for supporting Kanu’s release was both hypocritical and arrogant. “It is ironic that Onanuga accused Atiku of commenting on a case before the court while he himself is making inflammatory pronouncements on the same issue,” the group said.
“Onanuga is not the Chief Justice of Nigeria. He has no right to sit in Aso Rock and pass judgment on Kanu. What gives him the moral or legal authority to pre-judge a matter in court while pretending to caution others?” HURIWA queried.
The Association announced that it would join and fully support the peaceful protest being organised by Omoyele Sowore to demand Nnamdi Kanu’s release, saying the time has come for Nigerians, especially the Igbo people, to rise against selective justice.
“Let the heavens fall, we will come out. Enough is enough. Every right-thinking Igbo person should join this protest. We cannot continue to be intimidated by people like Bayo Onanuga who should be behind bars for hate speech and ethnic incitement,” HURIWA said.
The group recalled that Onanuga’s ethnic tirade in 2023 was not an isolated incident, pointing to similar threats made by the Lagos transport union leader,, Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, who warned non-Yoruba voters to stay away from polling units unless they were voting for the APC.
“MC Oluomo said, ‘If you no wan vote for APC, stay at home o!’; a clear call for voter suppression and ethnic violence,” HURIWA recalled. “That reckless statement was followed by brutal attacks in Lagos, including the case of Mrs. Idowu Owohunwa, who was stabbed and bloodied while trying to vote. Yet, no one was arrested or prosecuted.”
HURIWA argued that Onanuga, MC Oluomo, and others like them who made hate-filled comments before and during the 2023 elections are “far guiltier” than Nnamdi Kanu, whose words from abroad never directly led to election-day killings or assaults.
“The truth is that Onanuga and MC Oluomo are the real symbols of hate speech in Nigeria. They are worse than Nnamdi Kanu because their words caused bloodshed, while Kanu’s words were calls for justice,” HURIWA said.
The rights organisation condemned the apparent ethnic imbalance in the country’s justice system, where anti-Igbo bigots walk free and even hold federal appointments while the leader of a movement calling for equality is treated as a felon.
“If Nnamdi Kanu were a Yoruba man, he would not have been held for this long. The Nigerian justice system is skewed, weaponised, and openly biased against the Igbo people,” HURIWA said.
The Association called on the Department of State Services (DSS) and the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) to immediately investigate Onanuga for incitement and ethnic hate speech, stressing that his conduct poses a real threat to Nigeria’s unity.
“The government cannot continue to protect people like Onanuga who are capable of setting this country on fire. Before Tinubu rewarded him with an appointment, Onanuga made a statement worse than what Nnamdi Kanu ever said. Yet, he is in Aso Rock while Kanu is in chains. That is not justice,” HURIWA concluded.

NAHCON,:Increase the BTA to $800

By Ibrahim Muhammad

The ongoing downward review of the 2026 Hajj fare, as directed by President Bola Tinubu presents a timely opportunity for the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) to also review the Basic Travelling Allowance (BTA) for Nigerian pilgrims, from the current $500 to $800.

This upward adjustment would better serve the purpose for which the BTA was originally designed: to provide pilgrims with sufficient funds to meet their essential financial needs during Hajj.

While it is understandable that such an increase may pose a challenge for NAHCON in maintaining the President’s directive on fare reduction—given that the current Hajj fare template already includes $500 (equivalent to about ₦775,000)—the Commission can manage this adjustment by negotiating a lower foreign exchange rate (lower than the official rate) to absorb the differential.

Let’s make hay while we have the President’s listening ear.

The entire Hajj fare goes for services enjoyed by pilgrims except BTA. This is the only cash that is returned to the pilgrims to provide basic funds, and therefore needs to be looked into. NAHCON should brief the President on the necessity of a higher BTA for Nigerian pilgrims. BTA used to be in the range of $1,000 and later downgraded to $800, from where to nosedived to $700. It is now $500. It has been the higher the Hajj fare, the lower the BTA.

For many pilgrims, especially first-timers from rural areas, the BTA serves as a vital financial lifeline throughout their stay in Saudi Arabia. A closer look at typical expenditure patterns makes this clear:

* Payment for Sacrificial Animal (Hady): Most pilgrims depend on their BTA to pay for this obligation. The minimum cost of the official coupon in Saudi Arabia is around SR750 (approximately $200), excluding those who risk cheaper roadside options that are prone to fraud. Sponsored pilgrims fall in this category.

* Transportation: Pilgrims staying in accommodations far from the Grand Mosques often spend at least SR30 per day on transportation. Over 15 days, this amounts to SR450 (about $100).
* Feeding: Although meals are provided, about 70–80% of pilgrims still spend a minimum of SR20 daily on additional food, totaling roughly SR600 (around $150). Those closer to Haram need to buy little gifts for their family.

By conservative estimates, these basic expenses alone consume over $450 of the current $500 BTA, leaving pilgrims with barely $50 for emergencies or personal needs. Many exhaust their allowance within the first week of arrival, leading to financial stress that can affect their concentration and comfort while performing Hajj rites.

Raising the BTA to $800 may be challenging, but it is a compassionate and practical step that serves the best interests of Nigerian pilgrims.
