Nnamdi Kanu’s lawyer accuses DSS of playing hide and seek game with his life *says quack doctor recruited to attend to Kanu’s case of potassium depletion

IPOB leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu

By Our Correspondent

The Indigenous People of Biafra,( IPOB), has allged that the Directorate of State Security, (DSS) is playing hide-and-seek game with its leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s health, despite being present during his medical examinations and tests.

IPOB stated this in a statement by the Counsel to Kanu, Onyedikachi Ifedi Esq who said that the DSS suddenly introduced one Dr. Nasiru Mohammed, an individual with questionable credentials and no demonstrable competence in handling life-threatening cardiovascular conditions.

According to him, Mohhammed is an individual from Daura in Katsina State who was allegedly delegated to Kanu’s medical team to carryout a special assignment for former AGF Malami and the caliphate.

The statement made available to journalists on Thursday partly read, “The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB have read with utter dismay the latest propaganda being churned out by the Department of State Services (DSS) through their willing media collaborators, particularly The Nation, purporting to “fault” Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s revelations on the quack medical attention to which he has been subjected.

This is yet another episode in the DSS’s shameful attempt to weaponise its cosy relationship with sections of the Nigerian media to misinform the public and malign our client. Facts are simple and indisputable.

“A quack doctor was catapulted from obscurity into Mazi Kanu’s medical matter without the faintest clue of the grave dangers associated with potassium depletion in the bloodstream—a condition our client faces.

“If indeed the DSS has nothing to hide, why has it refused to release the full and unedited test results for the world to see? Instead, like a petty thief caught in the act, the DSS has resorted to desperate lies and media smokescreens.

“Why also did the DSS have to fly Mazi Kanu’s blood samples to South Africa for analysis if, as they falsely claim, nothing is wrong with him? This singular act exposes the hollow nature of their propaganda.

“It bears repeating that a security agency which does not even understand the clinical implications of aortic valve regurgitation or congestive heart failure has no business presuming to oversee the healthcare of a man whose life is already endangered by their reckless detention conditions.”

IPOB further challenged the DSS to convene an open press conference where independent journalists and medical experts can freely interrogate them on the state of Mazi Kanu’s health.

“If the DSS is so confident on its position, it should subject itself to the disinfecting sunlight of public scrutiny.

“Unfortunately, the modus operandi of the DSS has always been to intimidate doctors into watering down their medical reports so as to fit the government’s preferred narrative, in order to deceive the courts into believing that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is well. The tragedy of Nigeria’s judicial system is that these Abuja-based courts, steeped in bias against the Igbo, often oblige them without question.”

It warned that such pattern of lies, concealment, and medical quackery must end, saying, the health and life of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu are not pawns in the DSS’s propaganda war. We will continue to expose every falsehood and hold the DSS accountable before Nigerians and the international community.

ADC: We Remain Focused — Says Party Will Present Right Candidate for 2027

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has declared that, despite what it called “recent distractions,” the party remains focused on its set objectives to rescue the country from the misgovernance of the ruling APC and save the country from the travesty of a one-party dictatorship.

Reacting to suggestions in some quarters that the party will not produce candidates in the 2027 elections, the party dismissed such views as unfounded and mischievous scaremongering, with no basis in reality or in any law, insisting that it will field credible candidates for the elections.

The party said it remains the country’s primary opposition platform, with a clear focus on organising, mobilising, and preparing to win the 2027 general elections.

In a statement, the ADC said Nigerians should disregard baseless assertions, noting that the party is fully compliant with all legal requirements and is actively building the structures necessary to contest and win elections at all levels.

The full statement reads:

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) wishes to state, clearly and unequivocally, that we remain focused on our mission to rescue Nigeria from the failure of the APC-led government and to prevent the dangerous slide toward a one-party state.

We have taken note of recent suggestions that the ADC will not produce candidates in the 2027 elections. We find such claims to be entirely unfounded, mischievous, and designed to create confusion where none exists. They have no basis in law, in fact, or in the reality of our preparations as a political party.

Let us be clear. The ADC will present candidates in the 2027 general elections. Not just candidates, but credible, competent, and nationally acceptable candidates who are capable of leading this country out of its current crisis.

We remain a law-abiding political party, fully compliant with the Constitution and the Electoral Act. There is no legal impediment to our participation in the 2027 elections, and any suggestion to the contrary is a deliberate attempt to mislead the public and dampen the growing momentum around our party.

The ADC stands today as the primary opposition platform in Nigeria, and we take that responsibility seriously. We are not distracted by noise. We are focused on the real work, organising across the country, mobilising Nigerians who are tired of insecurity, rising costs of living, and limited opportunities, and building the structures required not just to contest, but to win.

We urge our members, supporters, and all well-meaning Nigerians to disregard these baseless assertions. The task before us is too important to be derailed by speculation.
