APC is Jittery and Overwhelmed by Accord’s Sudden Electoral Popularity – Adeleke Spokesperson

Gov Ademola Adeleke of Osun state

The Accord is today and tomorrow a potent, popular, winning platform for Governor Ademola Adeleke in the forthcoming 2026 gubernatorial polls, hence the obsession of the All Progressives Congress (APC) with illegal and unconstitutional thinking in their attacks against the party, Spokesperson to Governor Ademola Adeleke, Mallam Olawale Rasheed has declared.

Responding to Hon Wole Oke’s uneducated call for the deregistration of the Accord, Mallam Rasheed mocks the lawmaker for working overtime to satisfy the emperor of Iragbiji, Mr Gboyega Oyetola, asserting that Oke has become a laughing stock in his ridiculous quest to please his new masters.

The Spokesperson lambasted the lawmaker for his degeneration into outright illegal advocacy after his realisation that Accord has become a party of victory, of triumph within a short span of its unveiling by Governor Adeleke, charging the lawmaker to embrace the negative consequences of his political betrayals and lick his wounds of rejection and isolation.

The Spokesperson who questioned the obsession of the APC hierarchy with either deleting Accord from the electoral registry or preventing Governor Adeleke from being in the guber contest wondered why the APC guber candidate is scared of facing the electorate who have made up their minds to re-elect the incumbent.

“As the APC is desperately working to financially strangulate Osun state by withholding local government allocations in the evil scheme to punish the voters into submission, it is equally plotting to destroy the ruling party in the state. That is not democracy; that is a recipe for democratic chaos.

“The APC strategy so far is built on undemocratic plots and scheming rather than contend with the electorate who have serious questions for Mr Bola Oyebamiji and the top hierarchy of the APC. If the APC is sure of its electoral potency, the party should drop the evil plot to destroy the Accord and let the fight be taken to the voters.

“Governor Adeleke has delivered in several sectors as attested to by local and international observers. In this yuletide period, Osun diaspora across the world are seeing first hand and hearing testimonies about the impressive performance of Governor Adeleke in the last three years.

“The governor has delivered across sectors with Osun emerging the best in south west on primary health care; with Osun moving from 33rd position under APC to number 7th position in NECO and WAEC ratings; with sport sector undergoing policy reform under an ongoing five star upgrade and renovation of Osogbo city stadium; with science and innovation receiving policy and implementation attention; with tractors and input support now available to farmers; with over 250 kilometres of roads constructed statewide; with over 100 billion naira pension and half salary debt paid; with close to four billion naira allocated to cooperatives and artisans financing; with ease of doing business attracting investment and booming PPP sector.

“We challenge the APC candidate to run on his party’s records from 2018 to 2022 across the sectors. Governor Adeleke is running on his own records from 2022 to date. And comparing the two eras, the jury is out —Governor Adeleke surpassed 12 years of APC rule under three years.

“The citizens and residents have seen the difference between governance and maladministration. The public have tasted good governance and bad governance. We challenge Mr Oyebamiji to a policy debate. He should be ready to answer questions about his days at Osun Investment agency and as a Commissioner for Finance.

“We task the state APC to demonstrate adherence to democratic culture by stopping the quest for short cut to power, by submitting to the people at a free and fair poll; and by being courageous enough to accept the verdict of the people when by August 8th, 2026 the voters reject the APC and her candidate”, the Spokesperson posited.

ADC: We Remain Focused — Says Party Will Present Right Candidate for 2027

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has declared that, despite what it called “recent distractions,” the party remains focused on its set objectives to rescue the country from the misgovernance of the ruling APC and save the country from the travesty of a one-party dictatorship.

Reacting to suggestions in some quarters that the party will not produce candidates in the 2027 elections, the party dismissed such views as unfounded and mischievous scaremongering, with no basis in reality or in any law, insisting that it will field credible candidates for the elections.

The party said it remains the country’s primary opposition platform, with a clear focus on organising, mobilising, and preparing to win the 2027 general elections.

In a statement, the ADC said Nigerians should disregard baseless assertions, noting that the party is fully compliant with all legal requirements and is actively building the structures necessary to contest and win elections at all levels.

The full statement reads:

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) wishes to state, clearly and unequivocally, that we remain focused on our mission to rescue Nigeria from the failure of the APC-led government and to prevent the dangerous slide toward a one-party state.

We have taken note of recent suggestions that the ADC will not produce candidates in the 2027 elections. We find such claims to be entirely unfounded, mischievous, and designed to create confusion where none exists. They have no basis in law, in fact, or in the reality of our preparations as a political party.

Let us be clear. The ADC will present candidates in the 2027 general elections. Not just candidates, but credible, competent, and nationally acceptable candidates who are capable of leading this country out of its current crisis.

We remain a law-abiding political party, fully compliant with the Constitution and the Electoral Act. There is no legal impediment to our participation in the 2027 elections, and any suggestion to the contrary is a deliberate attempt to mislead the public and dampen the growing momentum around our party.

The ADC stands today as the primary opposition platform in Nigeria, and we take that responsibility seriously. We are not distracted by noise. We are focused on the real work, organising across the country, mobilising Nigerians who are tired of insecurity, rising costs of living, and limited opportunities, and building the structures required not just to contest, but to win.

We urge our members, supporters, and all well-meaning Nigerians to disregard these baseless assertions. The task before us is too important to be derailed by speculation.
