The Provisional Committee of the proposed Nigerian Coast Guard (PC-NCG) has once again disassociated itself from the unauthorised collection of money from unsuspecting Nigerians under the guise of recruitment, enlistment, training, appointment, or commissioning into the proposed Nigerian Coast Guard.

The Committee urges members of the public to beware of individuals and groups demanding payment for recruitment, enlistment, training, appointments, commissions, or conferment of ranks in the name of a Nigerian Coast Guard that has not yet been established as a statutory institution.

In a statement issued in Abuja by the Director of Communications & Public Affairs, Dr. Piriye Kiyaramo, on behalf of the Chief Executive and Accounting Officer, Captain Noah Ichaba, on Sunday, the Committee stressed that advocacy for the lawful establishment of a Nigerian Coast Guard must not be confused with the operation of a statutory Coast Guard.

“Advocating for the lawful establishment of a Nigerian Coast Guard is not the same as operating a statutory Coast Guard,” the statement said.

“PC-NCG is an advocacy, facilitation, and preparatory platform supporting the lawful establishment of a Nigerian Coast Guard through constitutional, legislative, and governmental processes.

“The Committee does not recruit personnel into a statutory Nigerian Coast Guard, commission officers or confer statutory ranks and appointments, or collect money for enlistment into a statutory Coast Guard.

“Accordingly, PC-NCG does the not authorise or recognise any purported parallel recruitment, enlistment, or training exercise presented to the public as recruitment into an already-established Nigerian Coast Guard.

“Participation in PC-NCG advocacy activities must not be represented as enlistment, employment, commissioning, or appointment within a statutory Nigerian Coast Guard.

DUE PROCESS, LITIGATION & INSTITUTIONAL INTEGRITY
“PC-NCG has consistently conducted its advocacy through open and accountable processes and remains committed to lawful engagement with the National Assembly and relevant government institutions.

“In 2022, the activities of the Committee were reviewed by the Force Intelligence Bureau (FIB) of the Nigeria Police Force. The review did not establish that PC-NCG had constituted or was operating a statutory Nigerian Coast Guard.

“The Committee notes that the Coast Guard establishment process has previously been subjected to legal challenge by persons opposed to it. Those proceedings were dismissed and did not terminate the advocacy process.

“It is therefore a matter of public concern that persons or interests previously associated with opposing the establishment process now seek to project activities under the same proposed Nigerian Coast Guard identity, rather than support the lawful process already underway.

“PC-NCG welcomes every Nigerian or organisation genuinely supporting the lawful establishment of the institution. However, attempts to appropriate or circumvent the established advocacy process, while using the name, structure, ranks, uniforms, or identity of the proposed Nigerian Coast Guard to create the impression that a statutory Coast Guard already exists, are unacceptable.

“Those who genuinely desire a Nigerian Coast Guard should advance its lawful establishment through constitutional channels, rather than create parallel structures that mislead the public.

PUBLIC NOTICE
“The public is hereby advised that: Participation in PC-NCG advocacy does not confer statutory status, rank, office, appointment, employment, or operational authority. Until a Nigerian Coast Guard is duly established by law, no individual or group should present itself as a statutory Nigerian Coast Guard by adopting its proposed name, uniforms, ranks, or insignia.

“Any person or organisation demanding money for purported recruitment, enlistment, training, appointment, or commissioning into an “already-existing” Nigerian Coast Guard should be treated with caution.

“Members of the public are strongly advised not to make payments, surrender personal documents, or participate in purported Coast Guard training without independently verifying the legal authority and status of the organisation making such claims.

OUR COMMITMENT
“PC-NCG remains focused on protecting the integrity of the legislative process, safeguarding the public from misrepresentation, and preserving the credibility of the advocacy process.

“The Committee will continue constructive engagement with the National Assembly and relevant government institutions on funding, jurisdiction, inter-agency coordination, and operational effectiveness to support the emergence of a viable, properly constituted, and professionally regulated Nigerian Coast Guard.

“Our objective is not personal ownership of an institution, but the lawful establishment of a Nigerian Coast Guard that belongs to Nigeria and serves the Nigerian people.

“PC-NCG therefore calls on all stakeholders, maritime professionals, civil society organisations, and members of the public who believe in the establishment of a Nigerian Coast Guard to support the lawful legislative and governmental process, and to reject confusion caused by parallel structures and unauthorised activities.

“The facts and chronology of events are now in the public domain. Nigerians are capable of examining them and drawing informed conclusions, the statement concluded.

Operatives of the Intelligence Response Team FIB-IRT of the Nigeria Police Force NPF has arrested a middle aged woman Nansit Wuyep aged 34 for allegedly conniving with one Catherine Davuo the mother of a kidnapped child for criminal conspiracy and for demanding a ransom of fifteen million Naira from her spouse in Jos Plateau State

The Force Public Relations Officer CSP Ani Iniedu disclosed this at Guzape Abuja office of the FIB-IRT while briefing newsmen on the achievements of the Police unit in there months.

He stated that the Police team acting on credible intelligence arrested the suspect and re-unitrd the victim with his biological father.

According to him, the operatives of the Police team acting on credible intelligence on 23rd July 2026 arrested on Nansik Wuyep 34 who faked the kidnap of one Rito Jesse Davis M 2years in connivance with his mother behind Bishop’s House Savon Baki Jos Plateau State.

The suspect he further said had confessed that it was the mother of of the hostage Mrs Catherine Davuo who conspired with her to fake and kidnap the child with her in their house in Jos South L.G.A.

She also confessed that it was one Luka Emmanuel Buidem male who made private (hidden number) calls to the victims grand mother for a ransome of fifteen million naira for his release

They were arrested and the victim was discovered, taken to hospital for medical attention and handed over to his biological father.

The Police officers also arrested one Idris Zakari of Zaudau village Dei Dei Abuja a notorious bandit/kidnap for ransom kingpin on May 25,2026 at about 08:39 hours for attempt to kidnap one Idris Mohammed AKA Yellow in the nation’s capital.

Another suspect Yakubu Danladi was nabbed by the Police team with AK47 rifek. He was quizzed leading to the arrest of one Abdulsalam in Jos metropolis for alleged sale of prohibited firearms in the North-East part of the country

Some other high profile suspects were arrested by the police team at various operations in Katsina, Bauchi, Kaduna and Gombe States for illegal possession of prohibited firearms, illegal sale of firearms and sundry criminal activities.

Exhibits recovered from the suspects include 7662 rounds of ammunitions, three AK 47 rifles, assorted number of catilleges and a cash sum of two hundred and twenty thousand Naira (N220.000:00).

The Inspector-General of Police IGP Olatunji Disu has assured the public that the Nigeria Police Force is resolute in that criminals terrorizing citizens are promptly arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the laws of the country.

He urges citizens to always volunteer credible information to aid the lead internal security agency in the arewt of these criminal even as he assured them of adequate security of lives and properties by the Police.

Horro!! as a 20-year-old man, identified as Pascal Ogbogu, has been arrested by the Anambra State Police Command for allegedly murdering his 56-year-old father with a machete at Abatete, Idemili North Local Government Area of the state.

The arrest followed a distress report received by the police on the evening of Tuesday, August 25, 2026, after the suspect allegedly attacked his father and fled the scene.

According to preliminary information made available by the Command, operatives of the Eziowelle Police Division, working with family members and personnel of the Abatete Vigilante, swiftly mobilised to the scene.

On arrival, the operatives reportedly found the deceased lying in a pool of blood, with a deep machete wound to his throat.

The victim’s remains were subsequently evacuated to a mortuary for preservation and autopsy.

The suspect, who allegedly fled immediately after the incident, was arrested in the early hours of Wednesday, August 26, following a coordinated effort by the police and members of the Abatete Vigilante.

The Command said timely information and cooperation from members of the community also played a significant role in tracking and locating the suspect.

Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Nnanna Oji Ama disclosed that the family members, community members, police operatives and Vigilante personnel for their prompt response and cooperation.

The CP stressed that effective community participation, timely information sharing and a strong partnership between the police and local communities remain critical to successful policing and the protection of lives and property.

While commiserating with the family of the deceased, CP Nnanna directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for further investigation and comprehensive review.

He said the investigation would establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and ensure that all relevant facts were properly established.

The Commissioner assured the family and members of the public that the investigation would be conducted professionally, thoroughly and diligently in accordance with the law.

He further assured that the suspect would be made to face due process upon the conclusion of the investigation.
