Crowd waiting Senator Natasha's arrival

A sizeable number of supporters have gathered to welcome Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, the representative of Kogi Central, ahead of her anticipated homecoming visit.

Senator Natasha’s supporters storm Kogi awaiting her arrival

Supporters were seen holding placards expressing solidarity with the lawmaker as they awaited her arrival.
The development follows her recent statement where she declared that Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo, and former Governor Yahaya Bello should be held accountable should any violence occur during her scheduled Sallah celebrations.
Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, who emphasized her desire for a peaceful homecoming, made the declaration in a post on her verified Facebook account on Tuesday.
She wrote, “My dear people of Kogi Central, I look forward to our PEACEFUL Sallah celebrations today. However, should we be met with or infiltrated by violence, Nigerians should hold Gov Ododo, Yahaya Bello & SP Godswill Akpabio wholly responsible.”
Her team had earlier said that the visit remains on schedule despite the recent ban on rallies and public gatherings imposed by the Kogi State Government, citing security concerns.
She dismissed rumours that she had cancelled her trip, urging her supporters to disregard such claims.
Meanwhile, her supporters under the aegis NAU media had in a statement said,”We are pleased to confirm that Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s Sallah visit to Kogi Central senatorial district will proceed as planned. Despite rumours circulating online, there has been no official announcement from our office regarding the cancellation of this visit.
“As the senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan remains committed to engaging with her community and fostering a spirit of unity and cooperation. Her dedication to the people of Kogi Central is unwavering, and she looks forward to celebrating Eid-el-Fitr with her constituents.
“We would like to assure the public that all necessary arrangements are in place to ensure a successful and joyous event. We invite all members of the community to join us in marking this special occasion.”
Consequently, the police have advised her to cancel the rally, but indications suggest she will proceed as planned.
Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, a member of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was recently suspended from the Senate for six months for allegedly violating legislative rules. She also faces a potential recall, allegedly backed by political figures from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The lawmaker has been at the centre of multiple controversies, including her accusation against Senate President Akpabio of sexual harassment.

Senator Yar’Adua dumps APC …says party derails from original ideals, selfish, corrupt

Senator Abubakar Sadiq Yar’adua has formally resigned his membership of the All Progressives Congress ( APC ), citing the party’s departure from its founding ideals and describing the current administration as “selfish and stinkingly corrupt.”

In a strongly worded resignation letter addressed to his colleagues and the Nigerian public, Yar’adua, a founding member of both the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) and the APC, accused the ruling party of betraying the masses and abandoning its original mission of service to the people.

“I can not remain in a party or support a government that unashamedly watches its citizens being maimed, intimidated, sexually-harassed, assaulted, killed and displaced… while the government, its leadership and organs… remain aloof and unconcerned,” Yar’adua stated.

He further criticized the economic policies of the APC-led government, labeling them “destructive” and targeted at the “welfare, dignity, lands and livelihood” of Nigerians . He likened those in power to “urban bandits” and declared his intention to work with other like-minded individuals to democratically oust the current administration.

His exit marks a significant development in Katsina State politics and could trigger more defections, especially among disillusioned party loyalists.

Yar’adua concluded his statement with a call to action: “I, therefore, have no option other than to join hands with like-minds to democratically remove this bad, selfish and stinkingly corrupt administration.”
